Scholarships & Financial Assistance
At Ganapathy Chettiar College of Engineering and Technology, we believe that financial constraints should never hinder a student’s dream of pursuing quality education. We are committed to supporting meritorious, economically weaker, and socially underprivileged students through various scholarship schemes and financial assistance programs.
Objectives
- To encourage academic excellence by recognizing merit.
- To ensure equal educational opportunities for economically backward students.
- To assist first-generation learners from rural backgrounds.
- To reduce dropout rates due to financial hardship.
Government Scholarships
Students belonging to eligible categories can apply for the following Tamil Nadu Government and Central Government schemes:
- For students belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes.
- Covers tuition fee, special fee, and exam fee.
- Income limit and caste certificate required.
- Available for students from Backward Classes, Most Backward Classes, and Denotified Communities.
- Based on family income limit as per government norms.
- ₹25,000 per year awarded to first-generation graduates.
- Applicable only if no elder sibling has pursued graduation.
- Scholarships from various central government departments like Ministry of Minority Affairs, Labour, Tribal Affairs, etc.
- Online application via www.scholarships.gov.in
- Pragati: For girl students pursuing technical education.
- Saksham: For differently-abled students.
Institutional Support & Fee Concessions
Ganapathy Chettiar College also provides additional financial assistance on a case-by-case basis:
- Merit-Based Scholarships : For students scoring above 80% in board or semester exams.
- Sports Scholarships : For students who have represented district/state in sports.
- Academic Excellence Awards : Cash prizes, certificates, and tuition fee waivers.
- Special Fee Waivers : Available for students from orphaned, single-parent, or low-income households after document verification.
Application Process
- Eligible students must collect the scholarship form from the office or download it online.
- Attach necessary documents:
- Community certificate
- Income certificate
- Transfer & conduct certificates
- Mark sheets and bank passbook copy
- Submit to the college scholarship coordinator within the specified deadline.
- Renewal of scholarships is subject to satisfactory academic performance and attendance.
Important Notes
Scholarships may not cover hostel/transport fees unless specified.
Students are encouraged to apply early to avoid delay in disbursal.
